Under the Wisconsin Court Watch initiative, the Wisconsin Civil Justice Council (WCJC) monitors and reports on Wisconsin Supreme Court and Court of Appeals decisions.
Appellate Program
Recognizing that the courts have a vital and sometimes harmful role in Wisconsin’s litigation climate, WCJC established its Appellate Program. As needed, WCJC will determine it is appropriate to file non-party briefs with the Wisconsin appellate courts. These briefs are prepared by outside counsel under our supervision.
Judicial Evaluation
The power of the Wisconsin Supreme Court to impact individuals and businesses can equal or exceed that of the legislature or the governor. WCJC undertakes a regular review of the court and publishes a Guide to the Wisconsin Supreme Court and Judicial Evaluation. The purpose is to educate our members and the public by providing a summary of important decisions issued by the court that impact Wisconsin’s business climate and to identify trends in how individual justices voted.
